A man who laced candy with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two boys both between nine and ten.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and one adult became sick at the facility in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the courthouse on recently.

Yet, he disputed one particular crime he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

The accused was held in detention prior to a further hearing on 28 November.

'Treat game'

Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the court.

She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he managed.

The defendant conducted a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She told the court the man had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.

She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in recently.

The prosecutor continued: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about the activities, justifiably.

"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."

The legal counsel said items including infant oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were discovered, and his stepchild alerted the police about his suspicions.

She explained the man went on to play the "candy game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.

"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she continued.

The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.

Mrs Prior said the minors were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member called the law enforcement once more.

She said the defendant then engaged in the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
